ABOUT
Wine To Water (WTW) is a global non-profit preserving life and dignity through the power of clean water. Founded in 2004, we develop WASH (water, sanitation, hygiene) solutions in direct partnership with local leaders, creating impact beyond water. Our team works relentlessly to improve environmental sustainability, education, women’s empowerment, healthcare, and economic growth. We are active in Nepal, Dominican Republic, the Amazon, and Tanzania. The WTW Disaster Response team actively responds to floods, earthquakes and hurricanes with life saving water and relief.
OUR FOUNDER
Doc Hendley is the founder and president of Wine To Water, a non-profit that radically transformed the process of bringing clean water to people in need anywhere in the world.
A musician and former bartender, Hendley launched Wine To Water in 2004 while bartending and playing music in nightclubs in Raleigh, North Carolina. At that time, he traveled to Darfur, Sudan and with the money raised, began installing water systems for victims of government-supported genocide.
For his work saving thousands of lives, Hendley was named one of the Top Ten CNN Heroes in 2009. Hendley is also an author. His compelling story of an ordinary bartender changing the world through clean water, called "Wine to Water: How One Man Saved Himself While Trying to Save the World," was published in 2012.
Doc is a frequent speaker, and often leads Wine To Water filter build programs. Filter builds are hands-on, socially responsible experiences for companies and organizations to assemble filters and make their own strides in alleviating the world’s water crisis.
